Cueva de las Lechuzas is part of a system of six caves in the northwest of the park. It is the most important tourist attraction in the region of Huánuco. It is a gigantic limestone cave, inside live birds called guácharos, nocturnal and endangered, which feed on fruits and are one of the main conservation objects of the park. Curiously, this cave does not inhabit owls as would be believed by the reference of the name. The tourist activities that can be carried out range from the observation of stalactites and stalagmites (rock formations), the observation of flora and fauna of the site, bathing in the river and camping. Likewise, in this sector a mountain range that forms the tourist attraction of La Bella Durmiente (lying woman) that is part of the Tingo María National Park is observed.
