Location
Province of Islay, department of Arequipa.
This national sanctuary is one of the few stops along the entire Peruvian coast for migratory birds that come from other continents, on a journey from north to south. From its tourist viewpoints you will be able to delight yourself with the impressive parihuanas and the exhibition of numerous species of shorebirds, divers and slender ducks that hover over swamps, mud flats and sandy beaches. Undoubtedly, it is a privileged destination for bird watching, some of them with restricted populations in Peru such as the yellow-billed choca (Fulica rufrifrons) and the slaty finch (Xenospingus concolor). In summer, it is possible to observe thousands of birds and observe more than 30 different species in a single visit.

You can visit the beach area to observe migratory birds and, finally, the mouth of the Tambo River.
